Wholesome Local Food Helping You Beat The Odds
We’re Here For The Long Haul
At Huckleberry Farms, we’re dedicated to nurturing a future that thrives on sustainability, community, and growth. Our commitment to regenerative practices, natural alignment, and strong community connections drives us to constantly evolve and expand our offerings. We envision a future where our farm serves as a hub of education, empowerment, and wellness, fostering deep connections with the environment and each other. We’re excited about the future and the programs we plan to implement.
Future Programs

Reviving the General Store: Incorporating a store once again in what remains of the historic general store that has served as our garage for the last 36+ years. (This photo is what it originally looked like circa the 1930s.) This future store will not only honor our farm’s rich heritage but also serve as a community hub where locals can gather, share stories, and access fresh, farm-raised products. The store will be a symbol of our commitment to preserving the past while building a sustainable future.
Farm Stand: Until we can accomplish the time, work, and money-intensive project of reviving the general store, we would like to offer a convenient “self-serve” farm stand here at the farm. This stand will provide easy access to our fresh, farm-raised products, allowing our community to enjoy the bounty of Huckleberry Farms on their own schedule.

Day Camp for Kids: Providing educational and fun activities for children to learn about farm life and sustainable practices. Kids will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiences such as planting seeds, feeding animals, and understanding the importance of biodiversity. These camps are designed to inspire a love for nature and impart valuable knowledge about sustainable living from an early age.
Skill Building: Offering skill-building opportunities for at-risk youth, those in work release, on house arrest, probation/parole, those in low income households, teen moms, single mothers, and those struggling with addiction/substance use disorder. Participants will learn practical skills such as gardening, animal care, and food preservation, helping them build confidence and self-sufficiency.

Safe, Sober/Clean Environment: Creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals looking to better their lives, whatever this looks like: hosting meetings, providing study/meditation space, or just a safe sober place they can come to. We want to provide a space where people can focus on personal growth and healing without the influence of substances. This supportive atmosphere is essential for fostering positive change and long-term recovery.
Community Service Opportunities: Facilitating community service projects that benefit both participants and the community. These projects will include activities like community gardens, neighborhood clean-ups, and local food drives. By working together, we strengthen community bonds and create a sense of purpose and connection.

Healthy Cooking Classes: Hosting classes that teach participants how to prepare nutritious meals using fresh, seasonal produce from the farm. Topics may include “What to cook with eggs,” “How to use rabbit meat,” and “How to cut up a whole chicken.”
Garden Therapy: Offering therapeutic gardening sessions for individuals dealing with mental health challenges, stress, or trauma. Gardening can provide a calming and restorative experience, helping participants connect with nature and improve their well-being.

Mentorship and Apprenticeship Programs: Providing mentorship opportunities through a yearly summer cohort with a small, manageable size. Following mentorship, participants can transition into a longer-term apprenticeship to gain hands-on experience and further their skills in agriculture.
School Outreach: Speaking to schools about environmental education, health/wellness, diet, and how these can be naturally supplemented through farming. We aim to inspire students to adopt sustainable practices and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Outdoor Wellness Activities: Organizing walks down county roads to pick up litter, providing exercise, helping out county crews, and benefiting the environment. We also offer outdoor activities like yoga, meditation, and nature walks to promote health and wellness while encouraging community engagement.
Senior Citizen Activities: Offering classes and activities tailored for senior citizens, such as gardening, light farm chores, and social events. These programs keep seniors engaged and active while fostering community connections.

Our goal is to offer a second chance for anyone who needs it while also teaching the general public how to overcome the odds of broken health, education, and governmental systems in order to live a healthier life. By providing practical skills, hands-on experiences, and supportive community programs, we empower individuals to build healthier, more self-sufficient lives. This holistic approach not only benefits those directly involved but also strengthens the overall well-being of our community, fostering resilience and adaptability in the face of systemic challenges.
